De messen zijn van een ander kwaliteit roestvrij materiaal gemaakt dan de lepels en vorken. Door deze verschillende materialen kan er door aanraking contactcorrosie ontstaan. Plaats daarom bestek niet tegen elkaar aan in het bestekmandje. Stop voor je eigen veiligheid de messen met het snijvlak naar beneden, maar het andere bestek juist andersom. Open de vaatwasmachine zo snel mogelijk na de afwas, dan kan het bestek goed drogen en voorkom je vlekken. Eventuele (roest)vlekken op het bestek kun je eenvoudig verwijderen met een zachte spons of koperpoets.
