Originating from China and Vietnam, star anise is the fruit of a keline tree that, when ripe, has the shape of an octagonal star, with a seed on each corner. The Chinese name means eight points. Star anise decorates oriental fried meat and vegetable dishes and gives them a wonderful aroma, but is also delicious with fish and seafood. Star anise also goes well with sweet dishes, mulled wine, gingerbread and seafood.
John West has been fishing at its best since 1857. You can taste that in our tuna pieces with a hint of water. The touch of water is just enough to avoid having to drain the tuna first.
