Excellent Selection Valpolicella Ripasso

0.75 l

Albert Heijn's wine buyers search all over the world for special wines for the AH Excellent Selection. An AH Excellent Selection wine has something extra to say. With this Ripasso, that is in the way the wine is made. A Ripasso is fermented twice. Immediately after the harvest, the regular Valpolicella is first made. When that wine is ready, the winemaker adds the skins of dried grapes used for Amarone. Then the second fermentation starts, extracting extra color and flavor from those skins. As a result, Valpolicella Ripasso tastes fuller, richer and firmer. This is a wine to enjoy at your leisure, just as a glass on its own or with pasta with a thick (meat) sauce.
