Of course it's about the wine, but you choose Fat Bastard - at least the first time - also for the packaging and the story. Fat Bastard is an accidental discovery by French winemaker Thierry Boudinaud and Australian wine rebel Guy Anderson. Years ago they made a Chardonnay together in the Languedoc. It was an experiment by Thierry, who had let part of the wine mature on its lees in the barrel for a long time, as is also the case with white Burgundies. The wine had become nice and thick, full and round: A Fat Bastard. Because that Chardonnay and also the story were appreciated, the wine friends later expanded the range.
