Port is a very special wine, partly because it can only come from the north of Portugal. Other countries also make fortified wines that resemble port, but they cannot be called port. In a relatively small area with extremely steep slopes, the grapes grow from which many different ports are made. Those differences are in the styles, from a fresh ruby ββto a soft tawny, and in the style of the port houses. Kopke's style is full, intense, fruity and spicy. Most houses have a long history. Nicolau Kopke founded his port house as early as 1638.
