Van Wijngaarden bv is a family business located in the Zaan region. Started in 1929 with the trade in vegetable oils, the company started making mayonnaise based on the oil that was traded in the late 1950s. A high oil content (80%) and a sophisticated balance of water, egg yolk and herbs created a unique and recognizable taste: full and creamy and with a slightly pleasant acidity. This recipe became known as the Zaanse mayonnaise and is still made today according to the traditional recipe from the previous century. The Van Wijngaarden family has made an important contribution to the manufacturing industry for which we know the Zaan region. Zaanse mayonnaise is a household name throughout the Netherlands and far beyond.
