Will you grow the tallest sunflower this year? Compete with friends, family or classmates and see who can grow the tallest sunflower. Use the side of the package to record progress for 12 weeks. How does it work? The set contains a jar, a bag of seeds and coconut fibers. Place the coconut tablets in a bowl with 400ml of water to swell. Fill the jar with this to about 1cm from the edge. Then sprinkle the seeds on top and cover them with another 1cm layer. Water the seeds and make sure the soil is always moist. Place the pot on a waterproof saucer in a warm and bright place, but not in direct sunlight. After the seeds have germinated, the plants can be planted in a larger pot or placed directly outside in the open ground. Only place the plants outside when there is no longer a chance of night frost. Sowing can be done from March to June. The sunflowers then bloom from July to September.
