What is a Bamischijf?

A bamischijf is one of the most well-known fried snacks in the Netherlands. Originally, this fried snack comes from Indonesia, and since the 1950s it has become a staple in Dutch snack bars. Bamischijven often consist of a mixture of bami with vegetables and meat. This can be chicken, beef, or pork, but chicken is usually chosen. A bamischijf is often eaten with sauce, such as satay sauce or another sauce of your choice.

Other variants include the bami block or the nasi ball, but over the years the bamischijf has become a true classic in Dutch snack bars.

Bamischijf recipe

If you want to make a bamischijf yourself, you can choose the filling you want. For example, carrot, bell pepper, and onions. Then add chicken and the desired spices. After preparing this, make the breading layer and have it ready.

Shape the filling you made into a patty and then make sure it is fully covered by the breading layer. After this, you can fry the bamischijf.

Bamischijf in the air fryer

Nowadays, you can of course also use the air fryer to prepare a bamischijf. Dutch Shopper, for example, offers the oven and air fryer version from Mora. This is even easier to prepare than the fried version.

Dutch Shopper has all kinds of bamischijven in their range and guarantees that these are delivered fresh abroad with special frozen shipping. So if you want to enjoy your bamischijven abroad as well, order them now.
