Dow's Fine White matures mainly in wood, which creates the beautiful golden color and the intense, nutty aroma. Part of this blend is not aged in wood, adding extra freshness and fruitiness. For four generations, the Symington family has owned Dow's Port. The experience of this English family goes back 100 years. Since the early 19th century, they have been making port in the beautiful Douro valley. Two of the best vineyards in the Douro belong to Dow's: Quinta Senhora da Ribeira and Quinta do Bomfim. These were purchased in 1890 and 1896, making Dow's one of the first port houses to invest in premium vineyards.
