Baharat literally means “spice” in Arabic. It is a popular blend throughout the entire Middle East. This warm, full-bodied blend is characterized by ingredients such as paprika and cinnamon. Baharat can be used in many different ways in the kitchen. Mix one to two heaped teaspoons with some olive oil and you can rub it onto all kinds of meat. Leave it to marinate briefly and it’s ready for further preparation. Like most other spice blends in the Original Spices range, baharat contains no salt. That makes using it a lot easier. Salt can always be added to the dish afterwards.
