Originally, this grape was only grown in the northern Italian region of Liguria, the French Provence, and on the islands of Corsica and Sardinia. To be honest, it still grows abundantly in these areas, but you also see it beyond them. This Vermentino comes from Tuscany. It is light and refreshing, yet very flavorful with the fruity notes of sweet lemon, like in limoncello. It also has a hint of spice, making it a good match for various Mediterranean (summer) dishes. Fattoria dello Cerro is a winery near Siena, especially known for its robust red Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, which you can also find in Albert Heijn’s selection.
