Grand'Italia pasta Tradizionali is produced in southern Italy. The pasta is made from semolina, in other words wheat semolina from durum wheat (grano duro). To guarantee the right quality, 100% of the wheat is milled in our own mill. The use of durum wheat results in a firm pasta that gives a perfect al dente bite.
In Italy, the name macaroni is sometimes used as a sort of umbrella term for all types of dried hollow pasta. In the Netherlands, macaroni is also called elbow pasta, and that is probably how everyone knows it from (grand)mother's kitchen. Thanks to its hollow shape, this pasta can absorb the sauce extra well, which makes this elbow pasta very suitable for different macaroni dishes.
Recipe (serves 4) Macaroni con peperoni:
400 g Grand'Italia Macaroni Tradizionali, 1 bottle Grand'Italia Sugocasa Erbe (690 g), 2 yellow bell peppers, 3 tbsp pine nuts, 1 handful of basil, 3 tbsp olive oil, 100 g Pecorino, a handful of cherry tomatoes.
