Amarone is a unique wine because of its special production method. Ripe grapes are partially dried on bamboo mats for 3 to 4 months. This drying process intensifies the fruit flavors and softens the tannins in the skins. After fermentation of these grapes, a wine is created with very high flavor intensity, lots of tannins and deep color. The name Masi comes from “Vaio dei Masi”, the small valley in Valpolicella in the Venetian region. The Boscaini family bought this small valley at the end of the 18th century, and it is where the Masi winery still produces its delicious wines to this day. It is still run by father and daughter Boscaini.
