Pecorino is not only an Italian sheep’s cheese, but also a grape variety. Pecorino is named after the sheep that nibble on the ripe grapes in the vineyard. You may recognize the name Pecorino from the Italian sheep’s cheese of the same name. Pecorino literally means sheep. The Pecorino grape is named after the sheep that snack on the ripe Pecorino grapes in the vineyard. This white wine comes from Terre di Chieti IGT, a sub-region of Abruzzo. Twenty percent of the wine matures in large oak casks. It is lively and fresh, with minerality, yellow apple, peach, and lemon. Full of flavor with a slight bitterness. Try serving it with Pecorino cheese.
