Valdivieso Merlot

This Merlot has aromas of plums, a hint of tobacco and cherries. The taste is soft and smooth with ripe tannins, lots of fruit from very ripe plums, sweet spices, coffee, chocolate and a slightly smoky note. A delicious, easy-drinking wine from Chile. In 1879, Valdivieso became the first winery in South America to start producing sparkling wines. A hundred years later, in 1980, the family began making still wines. Their philosophy is to use the best possible grapes and to preserve the aromatic and flavour characteristics of the grapes as much as possible. The taste of oak ageing should therefore never be too dominant. With Chile’s ideal wine-growing climate and the great care taken with the grapes, the winery now produces excellent wines that win many international awards. But perhaps most important of all is that all their wines are known for their outstanding value for money.
