Did you know that? Originating from China and Vietnam, star anise is the fruit of a keline tree that, when ripe, has the shape of an octagonal star, with a seed on each corner. The Chinese name means eight points. Star anise decorates oriental fried meat and vegetable dishes and gives them a wonderful aroma, but is also delicious with fish and seafood. Star anise also goes well with sweet dishes, mulled wine, gingerbread and seafood.
