A bit of the Netherlands in Spain: why I don't want to be without Dutchshopper
When I moved to Spain a few years ago, to beautiful Valencia, I knew I wouldn't miss the Dutch weather. But what I did miss? A simple breakfast with peanut butter. Or chocolate sprinkles. Or just a slice of ontbijtkoek with coffee.
At first, I always took half a suitcase full after a visit to the Netherlands. But of course, that didn't last. And in the local supermarkets here in Valencia, products like Calvé peanut butter or De Ruijter chocolate sprinkles are not to be found – or they are shockingly expensive via foreign webshops.
Until I discovered Dutchshopper.
Since then, I order every month – sometimes just the basics, sometimes something extra for a treat. But always with the same result: within five days, a well-packed package with real Dutch products is at my door.
Familiar products, without the premium price
What I like so much is that Dutchshopper simply works smart. They buy from AH, PLUS, and HEMA and only ship non-perishable products abroad (even frozen products, by the way, which arrive well insulated). This keeps the shipping costs low – and you notice that immediately.
A large part of my order consists of products with a fixed-price label. These are classics like Bolletje ontbijtkoek, Calvé peanut butter, and Unox smoked sausage that they always offer at a good price. That way, I’m sure I never pay too much, and I don’t have to keep comparing with other webshops.
A bit of home, here in Spain
I still remember how happy I was when I could make a “normal” breakfast again for the first time, with the things I always used in the Netherlands. They are small things – but they make a big difference when you live abroad.
