Full-bodied wine from Saint-Émilion, a beautiful town and famous wine region in Bordeaux. The wine is mainly made from merlot, which gives it a fruity and smooth character. Suitable for drinking on its own and at the table. Colour, taste: red, smooth Grape variety: merlot, cabernet franc Country, region: France, Bordeaux Delicious with: Pork, Vegetarian Awarded: De Grote Hamersma 8.5 Bordeaux can roughly be divided into the Médoc and, on the other side of the river, Saint-Émilion. Most wines from the Médoc are mainly made from cabernet sauvignon and are robust. Saint-Émilion is based on merlot, which usually produces wines with a softer mouthfeel. This Château Haut Versannes certainly fits that description. It is fruity, slightly spicy, full but not heavy, and remains gentle on the palate. Officially probably intended to accompany various meat and vegetable dishes, but also very suitable for drinking on its own. Do not serve it too warm. From a cool room, around 16 degrees Celsius, is perfect. Also available in handy half bottles.
