A classic from the south of the Rhône. It consists of a blend of grapes including grenache, syrah, and mourvèdre. The vines, most over 45 years old, stand in vineyards covered with large pebbles that retain the daytime warmth of the sun well and release it to the plants at night. Fully ripe grapes are harvested, full of sweet juice. From these, this dark red, powerful wine is made. Full-bodied and spicy, with the sweetness of spices and a lively twist from the pepper mill. Such a wine is one for a special meal, for example with game, a fine rib steak, or a hearty stew with mushrooms. It comes from Guigal, the foremost winemaking family of the Rhône. After grandfather Etienne and father Marcel, now Philippe, the third generation, is in charge.
