At 165 hectares, Groot Constantia truly lives up to its name. Different grape varieties are planted on 90 hectares. The winery blends these different varieties into what is called a blend. This way, the composition of Groot Constantia Red changes every year and it can contain no fewer than six grape varieties: shiraz, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec, and pinotage.
