Groot Constantia Shiraz

A complex wine of berries and blackberries with a pleasant touch of pepper, mocha and chocolate. Excellent to pair with game and gourmet dishes. Groot Constantia is located just outside Cape Town. The wine estate, built in Cape Dutch style, was founded in 1684 by Simon van der Stel. At the time he was VOC governor of the Cape of Good Hope and thus the founder of South African winegrowing. Over the years, the wine from Groot Constantia has built up an excellent reputation and is served in numerous European royal houses. In 1984 the estate was even declared a National Monument.
