The Follies Menetou-Salon The Follies White
Some detect the scent of freshly cut grass in this sauvignon. Perhaps that is why it tastes especially good outdoors, in the sun. Color, taste: white, fresh, and dry Grape variety: sauvignon blanc Country, region: France, Loire Pairs well with: Salad, Fish Awarded: De Grote Hamersma 8.5 Menetou-Salon is located in the Loire valley, near Sancerre and Pouilly. Like these Loire classics, Menetou-Salon is also made from sauvignon blanc. It has the invigorating taste typical of the Loire. This is due to the cool climate and the chalk-rich soil. An important feature of limestone is that it provides good drainage and thus healthy soil on which the grapes can ripen undisturbed. Some people also detect a chalky or limestone aroma in the wine. In any case, the soil ensures fresh acids that make this wine very suitable as an aperitif and for casual drinking. In the Loire itself, it is often enjoyed with the soft goat cheese also produced in the region. It is also fun and tasty to try it with sushi and sashimi.
