Amarone is a unique wine because of its special production method. Ripe grapes are partially dried on bamboo mats for 3 to 4 months. This drying process intensifies the fruit flavours and softens the tannins in the skins. After fermentation, these grapes produce a wine with very high flavour intensity, plenty of tannins and lots of colour. The name Masi comes from “Vaio dei Masi”, the small valley in Valpolicello in the Venetian region. The Boscaini family purchased this small valley at the end of the 18th century, where the Masi winery has been making its delicious wines to this day. It is still run by father and daughter Boscaini.
