Piersanti Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC

This smooth wine made from the Montepulciano grape comes from Abruzzo. It’s full of ripe fruit and has a slight spicy note. It pairs well with spicy pasta dishes and stews, but also with a cheese board. Not exactly there, but in the neighbouring region of Marche, Giovanni Piersanti made his first wine 70 years ago. It wasn’t a red wine, but a sparkling wine. By now, the family has it all. Piersanti specialises in regional wines from local grapes. For white wine that’s Verdicchio, also available at Albert Heijn, and for this red it’s Montepulciano.
