At a young age, he knew he would take over the craft from his father and continue the long family tradition of butchers. At butcher school, it became clear that he had great talent for the craft of making sausages and meat products. As the best in his class, he was chosen to participate in the European trade competitions. During his years as a butcher, he also won many prizes with his tasty products, crowned by winning the most prestigious trade competitions (best butcher of the Netherlands) and winning the tastiest meatball in the Netherlands. He now leads one of the most prominent butcher shops in northern Netherlands in Dokkum. The butcher shop originated in 1974 in the small village of Ternaard on the Wadden coast and has since grown into a state-of-the-art butcher shop with a traditional production area in the Frisian Eleven Cities town of Dokkum.
