Syrup is in our blood. The name markus is inextricably linked to the stroopwafel. Syrup was spoon-fed to us, because in 1965 grandpa Markus already started baking stroopwafels, then called syrup waffles. In 1978 his sons Jan and Leo Markus started their own stroopwafel bakery. Martin markus took over the management of the bakery from his father and uncle in 2007 and in 2019 his brother, martijn markus, also joined the family business. As a result, today there are again two brothers at the helm of Markus and Markus.
