Valdivieso Merlot

This Merlot has aromas of plums, a hint of tobacco and cherries. The taste is smooth and supple with ripe tannins, lots of fruit from very ripe plums, sweet spices, coffee, chocolate and a slightly smoky note. A delicious, easy-drinking wine from Chile. The Valdivieso winery was the first in South America to start producing sparkling wines in 1879. A hundred years later, in 1980, the family began making still wines. Their philosophy is to use the best possible grapes and to preserve the aromatic and flavour characteristics of the grapes as much as possible. The taste of oak ageing should therefore never be too dominant. With Chile’s ideal wine climate and the great care taken with the grapes, the winery now produces outstanding wines that win numerous international awards. But perhaps most important of all is that an excellent price–quality ratio is characteristic of all their wines.
