This sturdy, wood-aged wine comes from Concha y Toro, one of the very best wineries in Chile. Casillero del Diablo is Concha's world famous wine line that wins big medals every year. For the Reserva Especial, the grapes come from Van Wijngaarden with a clay-rich granite soil in the Maule Valley. This specific terroir gives the wine pronounced aromas of cassis and black cherry and a great structure. The wine is partly aged in French oak barrels for a refined spicy accent, and partly in American oak that adds sultry, spice notes. This complex, powerful wine is a perfect choice for roast meats and mature cheeses. Pour it into large glasses: contact with oxygen makes it even tastier.
