The AH range includes three wines from Bodegas Protos. All three come from Ribera del Duero and are made from the tempranillo grape. What differs is the time that the wine has matured in wooden barrels, which makes them taste different. You notice that when you taste them side by side. This roble was 6 months in barrels of American oak. Due to the short wood maturation, it tastes mainly fruity, with a hint of vanilla. The crianza matured for 14 months in wood, so that the fruit and spiciness of the barrel have melted, so to speak. The reserva spent no less than 18 months in barrel and that long maturation has made it extra soft. This roble is the youngest, fruitiest and boldest of the three and you can safely drink it slightly chilled, for example at a tapas buffet.
