The delicious smell of freshly baked cake has been hanging in the streets of the Frisian village of Molkwerum for almost a hundred years. Farmer's son Cornelis de Boer took over the old bakery here from his aunt in 1916. He dug up original Molkwarder biscuit recipes and successfully marketed biscuit products. Cornelis' son, Thijs, continued the tradition and worked in the bakery for no less than 51 years. Since February 1, 2015, we have moved the bakery to Joure and at this location the cakes are traditionally made according to old recipes. In Joure, the new bakery is running at full speed. Fragrant, traditionally prepared Molkwarder cakes come out of the oven every day.
