This is the wine that made Abruzzo known as a wine region. It is made from the indigenous Montepulciano grape. They have many grape varieties in Abruzzo that you rarely encounter outside the region. That makes the area special. The Ulisse family only grows those varieties that traditionally belong to Abruzzo, such as the almost forgotten pecorino, the trebbiano dAbruzzo and this montepulciano. It has the delicious sweet and sour which is characteristic of many Italian red wines. At Ulisse they cherish the fruity aromas by not letting the wine mature in wooden barrels, but in stainless steel tanks that do not give off any flavour. You can taste cherry, berry, also the floral of violets and some spiciness. You can eat anything here, whether you fancy a spaghetti bolognese or a hearty steak. Just a glass is also possible.
